An Event That Left A Lasting Impression
If it was like any other day I wouldn’t have leaped out of bed and charged out of the room. Today was the day that my dad and I were going to go to THE Dodgers game (even though we were going for the Milwaukee Brewers) and would be able to go on the field to meet the players. I had been to other games before, however this game was supposed to be the game of the MILLENNIA. If you are like me now you may not really care about baseball, however for an eight year old boy that was the best thing that could ever happen to me.
Our day started at around five when I woke up and I ran upstairs to my father’s office and jumped on his back. He was busy checking the stock market, but I didn’t care because I was so excited. He laughed and we went downstairs and had some breakfast and then played some video games for a few hours. We headed to the store to get some groceries around 3pm, then the park an hour later.
By this time it was five and we had to get going to the owner of the dodgers house and when we saw that he didn’t have much of a large house we were bewildered. There he gave us a giant goodie bag full of a baseball bat, candies, a signed ball and a glove. My dad had dinner there and talked to the owners while I was upstairs talking to their son and looking at his lacrosse and hockey gear. He had apparently also played baseball, however got bored of it really fast and a few years later so did I.
Around this time we decided it was a good time to get going to the game and so they said goodbye and that they would meet us there. The drive was about 30 minutes and then parking was terrible, so around 7:30 we got in the gates. When we got to the bouncer we showed him our VIP passes and he let us through and told us where the owner was inside. We were then ushered to their office then they showed us the way down to the field.
My dad and I strolled to the field and saw the first pitch of the day during their practice. We 3were then escorted into the dugout of both teams starting with the dodgers. They were all very nice and we even got a load of pictures. Then we headed to the Brewers and saw the amazing players I dreamed of being as good as (I couldn’t tell you their names though as I haven’t kept track for 5 years).
We went up to our seats in the VIP section and I tell you it was a great game with the score being tied up at 1-1 at the end of the first inning. By the 3 inning it was 3-2 with dodgers winning and we were kind of upset. However the next inning we got 2 runs and stopped the dodgers from scoring. We got to the 6th inning with nothing changing, however by the end of the 7th we were tied at 5. The game was in the ninth with us still tied at 5, and we went into extra innings. So tenth inning we both get 3 runs and it stays that way for 3 more innings and then we had a double play with 2 runs, and the dodgers got 1. We end up winning and the coach asks if we had a good time and that he was sorry that the dodgers lost, but we knew that that was what we wanted to happen.
After the game we went home and laughed about the score and mimicked the players on the field, even to the point of laughing at there stance and how they made some bad throws.
